Take time to calculate just how much waste you are likely to put in the hired skip. In our experience, customers NEVER say "I wish we had ordered a smaller skip". It is far more economical for you to order one larger skip than two smaller skips.
Determine where you can locate the hired skip. We recommend if possible to site on your property. However, if this is not possible as it will be on a public highway, you will need a licence from the Highways Department. We will arrange this for you but a minimum of 24 hrs notice is required by law.
PLEASE NOTE: The public highway is normally defined as any land outside your garden fence or property boundary, which includes a grass verge, pavement, parking areas and the road.
Make sure the waste is suitable for skip disposal. Hired skips are for general and inert waste only. Examples of items not suitable for skip disposal are fridges, TVs or monitors, hazardous waste which includes paints, solvents, liquids, asbestos and plaster board.
